PERUGIA – Sir Safety Conad Perugia changes coach.
The black-and-white club announces that coach Daniel Castellani was dismissed from his assignment.
President Sirci is the one to explain the reason of this choice: «I think that Daniel Castellani, besides being a good person, reliable and very professional, is also a good coach, technically prepared. But the fifth place in the rankings is not consistent with the plans and ambitions of our club, considering also the forthcoming qualification for Coppa Italia, which is at the moment complicated, so we decided to make this change».

Simultaneously Sir Safety Conad Perugia announces the arrival, or better the return, of Slobodan Kovac on the black-and-white bleachers. He already coached the Block Devils from 2011 to 2014 and was author of the team’s climb in Italian volleyball, starting with the victory of the A2 series championship to the Coppa Italia final and, in the end, the championship final in the 2013-2014 season. Boban, beloved by all of the Perugia supporters, will be back in Perugia after two years with the Iranian national team.
Even in this case, president Sirci explains this decision: «Boban is a coach that left a great mark in all of us and we stayed on good terms with him. We had the opportunity and took it immediately. We are talking about one of the best coaches around and I’m convinced that, with his moral and character qualities and with his knowledge of volleyball, he will manage to bring out the best of our players».
The logistical aspects of this operation will be defined in the next few hours. Kovac will probably make his “second debut” on the black-and-white bleachers already on Sunday in Latina, for the last match of the first leg.
