C’è ancora nell’aria il profumo intenso della vittoria di ieri a Verona ed è, potenza dei playoff, già alle porte la decisiva gara 3 dei quarti di finale playoff per la Sir Safety Credito Cooperativo Umbro Perugia!
Si diceva poco fa… i playoff sono unici, adrenalinici, offrono partite e serie che non è possibile riprodurre durante il campionato come tensioni, emozioni e spettacolo che offrono.
Ed il successo di ieri sera al PalaOlimpia dei Block Devils, arrivato dopo un susseguirsi di colpi di scena, ne è la migliore fotografia.
Erano spalle al muro capitan Vujevic e compagni. Vincere per restare vivi, nella bolgia del palasport scaligero, era l’unica soluzione per proseguire il cammino ed i ragazzi, con coraggio e cuore, ma soprattutto con una prova di ben altro spessore rispetto a gara 1, si sono guadagnati un’altra partita, quella di mercoledì sera in un PalaEvangelisti che si preannuncia già incandescente e dove si deciderà il nome della semifinalista in questa serie.
E lo hanno fatto a modo loro, soffrendo e facendo soffrire i tantissimi Sirmaniaci commoventi per come hanno incitato, dal primo all’ultimo pallone, i propri ragazzi.
Ma alla fine la vittoria è arrivata, con la firma finale di Atanasijevic, ma con il timbro di ognuno dei bianconeri, dallo splendido De Cecco all’infallibile Fromm (capace di cambiare completamente faccia rispetto a gara 1), da Buti a Beretta, da Vujevic a Giovi e Fanuli, da Sunder (entrato in fugaci apparizioni in prima linea) a Barone, Paolucci, Maruotti e Tzioumakas, non a referto ma “dentro al match” con i loro incitamenti ed i loro consigli ai compagni.
E adesso è necessario, indispensabile e giusto voltare subito pagina e concentrarsi su gara 3 in programma tra due giorni. Sarà un’altra battaglia per la quale i Block Devils torneranno in palestra già oggi.
Gara 2 va subito chiusa e lo fanno con le loro dichiarazioni i protagonisti del PalaOlimpia.
“Questi sono i playoff!”, spiega il tecnico Nikola Grbic. “Le emozioni di ieri sera sono le emozioni dei playoff. Ora dobbiamo essere bravi a resettare ancora una volta tutto, perché non abbiamo fatto nulla e si riparte dallo zero a zero. Certamente quello di Verona è un grande risultato, sono orgogliosissimo dei ragazzi che hanno reagito da grandi campioni fuori casa, dominando gran parte della gara ed uscendo fuori poi da una situazione che si era fatta difficile. Nel finale del terzo set ci siamo rilassati un po’ soffrendo il servizio di Coscione. Ma poi, con il pubblico gasato, siamo stati bravissimi a rimanere in gioco. Nove squadre su dieci in queste situazioni crollano, noi invece siamo riusciti a vincere”.
“Ho giocato meglio rispetto a gara 1 – spiega Christian Fromm, portentoso in attacco al PalaOlimpia – ma posso fare ancora di più. E credo che ieri siamo stati tutti bravissimi. Sono contento per questo risultato, ma non abbiamo vinto nulla. Il terzo set? Questa è la pallavolo, bisogna stare sempre attenti, bisogna giocare fino alla fine. Però poi, con le spalle al muro, abbiamo messo il 100%, continuato a dare pressione e mai mollato. Mercoledì? Bisogna vincere!”.
“Gran bella partita”, conclude Simone Buti. “Ma dopotutto questi sono i playoff, dove bisogna giocare sempre fino all’ultimo pallone. Quella di ieri è una vittoria che dà grande carica per gara 3, dimostra che siamo forti. Verona è una grande squadra e verrà da noi per vincere. Dobbiamo essere concentrati e cinici e fare tutto al meglio se vogliamo conquistare le semifinali”.

Yesterday’s success for the Block Devils in the PalaOlimpia, after a string of coup de théâtre, draws the best picture of this.
Captain Vujevic and his teammates were in a corner. In the chaos of the Verona sports facility, the only solution to keep going in the playoffs was winning to stay alive. They guys, with courage and heart, but mostly with an extremely different game if compared to game 1, earned another match. This will be on Wednesday evening in the PalaEvangelisti and it will be heated, since it will decide the semi-finalist of this league.
They did it their way, suffering and making the many Sir Maniacs suffer. These supporters were touching for how they pushed their guys, from the first ball to the last.
But in the end victory was achieved, with Atanasijevic’s final signature, but also with the stamp of every single black-and-white. «These are the playoffs!», says Coach Nikola Grbic. «Last night’s thrills are the playoff thrills. Now we have to be good at resetting everything once again, because we have not done anything and we start again from zero to zero. The result in Verona was of course great, I am extremely proud of the guys because they reacted like great champions in an away game, dominating most of the game and managing to get out of a situation that became difficult. In the end of the third set we relaxed a bit and suffered Coscione’s serve. But then, with a wired public, we very good at staying in the game. Nine teams out of ten crumple in these situations, instead we managed to win».
Christian Fromm, extraordinary in attack in the PalaOlimpia, says: «I played better compared to game 1, but I can do even better. I think that yesterday we were all very good. I am happy about this result, but we did not win anything. The third set? This is volleyball, you always have to be careful, you have to play until the end. But then, cornered, we gave 100%, kept pressing and never gave up. Wednesday? We have to win!».

Yesterday’s victory gives us a great charge for game 3, it proves that we are strong. Verona is a great team and they will come to win.
